The exam for COMP2129 is NOT open book. However, you may bring a single A4 sheet of paper, written on both sides in any font size.

Assessment
The final exam is worth 70% of the course mark. The remaining 30% is earned through the weekly homework, quizzes and lab assigned tasks.

Please note that YOU MUST ACHIEVE at least 40% in the exam to PASS this course.

In fairness to all students late work cannot be accepted. In exceptional cases late work must be submitted directly to a course coordinator after a lecture, accompanied by an application for Special Consideration following your faculty system.

Assessment of COMP2129 Practical Work
As stated in lectures, these marks, homework, lab and quiz, usually correlate highly with exam marks and final marks: they provide you with excellent feedback on how you are doing. If you are doing poorly, you tutor will aim to help you improve.
  • The quiz, homework and lab are worth a total of 10 each week. To get full marks, you need to complete the homework and the lab work to a high standard and be able to answer questions from the tutor about your work, why you did it the way you did, where it could be improved, and similar. We average the best 9 labs to determine your quiz mark for the semester. This counts for 15% of the final assessment. The detailed grading of each quiz varies from week to week.
  • To earn a pass, you must have completed most of the work at a solid standards. The homework/labwork mark counts for 15% of the final assessment and we average the best 9 labs.
